PREPARATION AND CHAMPIONSHIP AMBITIONS
The Cut Axe Throwing is known in the sport of axe throwing for turning out great throwers - including World Axe & Knife Throwing Championship finalists like Tony Luce, Vail Cook, Jeff Cope, and Jonathan “Fancy Lad” Morgan, and International Axe Throwing Championship top finishers Vail Cook and Jonathan “Fancy Lad” Morgan - both Austin natives who throw at The Cut Axe Throwing.
“This year we plan on sending our best to Toronto, Ontario to compete at the big show - IATC Round 2. And I think we’ll do well.” said Tony Luce, founder of The Cut Axe Throwing. “I couldn’t be prouder of those who are qualifying for the first time - including a lot of Aggies and our local leaguers. These guys have come a long way in a short amount of time and they deserve to be recognized as emerging talent in a fast-growing sport. It just goes to show you that anyone walking in off the street and throwing for the first time - which is what a lot of these guys did last year - has the possibility of qualifying for the International Axe Throwing Championship if they work hard, throw consistently, and dedicate themselves.”
IATC - Community Spirit and International Recognition
The event is more than just a competition—it’s a celebration of community spirit, athletic excellence, and the growing global popularity of axe throwing. As each thrower steps up to the line, they carry not only their personal pride at qualifying but also the pride of throwing out of The Cut Axe Throwing in College Station. The championship promises thrilling moments and intense competition, with every team member ready to defy expectations and inspire fans back home.
Looking Ahead
As the tournament unfolds, all eyes will be on these 21 throwers.
Round 1 of the IATC is all about Qualifying for Round 1. Round 1 Qualifiers will throw a set of 75 throws + 15 Big Axe throws, and their score will determine which throwers from The Cut Axe Throwing will make it to the Big Show - IATC Round 2 - held each summer in Toronto, Canada.
